Cut the construction paper to fit the inside of a shoe box.

Cover the inside and outside of box with blue construction paper. Use sand colored paper for the inside bottom for the "floor" of the ocean. Turn the box on its side.

Pick the animals and plants you want to put in the diorama. Draw the pictures, cut them from magazines, or use clipart. Color the pictures or print them on a color printer.

Glue a variety of plants and ocean creatures to the back of the shoe box.

Tape the string to the backs of the ocean creatures you choose. Then, tape the other end to the inside top of the box. Use different lengths of string to create an interesting arrangement.

Glue or tape the plants and the creatures that live on the ocean floor to the bottom of the box.
